National Family Literacy Month, an education
and awareness campaign from the National
Center for Families Learning (NCFL),
encourages two generations to learn and
achieve things together. The campaign
celebrates partners of NCFL, as well as lifts up
the efforts of family literacy and family-focused
programs. Here are some ideas to use for your family.
The organization's website, familieslearning.com, has a rich selection of online resources for families to learn together in the areas of health, finance, and activities. Those resources include Health Family Habits, sponsored by Humana Foundation, that not includes kid-friendly, healthy recipes like whole wheat spaghetti with meat sauce, but also table tent cards to print and keep at home that remind families to get more steps into their day and eat more vegetables. A reading list to share with children discusses the importance of a well rounded diet.
